The River Owenduff was immortalised in W.H. Maxwell’s remarkable book Wild Sports of the West published in 1832. It is one of Irelands most attractive and prolific spate river spring salmon, grilse and seatrout fisheries. The river is fly only and is privately owned. The lower river is owned by Lagduff Lodge, the middle river by Shean Lodge and the upper river by Rockhouse Estate. Flowing through the beautifull landscape that is West Mayo, it is a magical river.
